Hair Product #Dupe Alert!! — Battle of the “Light Nourishing Oils!” To the left we have Kérastase’s Elixir Ultime (Oléo-complex) by L’Oreal, retailing at $56.00 for a bottle size of 4.2 fluid ounces and to the right, L’Oreal’s Oléo Therapy Perfecting Oil Essence retailing at $12.99 for 3.4 fluid ounces. They both deliver ULTIMATE shine, and add softness and smoothness. They’re blended with scented oils that work for ALL hair types, from 2a to 4c! For a light weight oil that increases manageability to a WHOLE NEW level, this is for you. It turns my wet, freshly washed, hard to detangle-bc I’m due for a perm hair, into SILK.
Now, with buying one over the other? In all honesty from what I’ve experienced using both, you’ll receive similar results using either or so I wouldn’t suggest purchasing the Kérastase and hoping for higher expectations. Like what many large brands tend to do—they sell two items that are much alike but add a few extra ingredients and price one higher than the other to cater to a different demographic. But otherwise, they both get the job done, smell wonderful and leave your hair looking and feeling like silk.
Here’s a brief description of each one cited from their product pages:
“Versatile nourishing oil that provides ultimate shine, softness and nourishment for all hair types” (Kérastase’s Elixir Ultime)
“OleoTherapy Perfecting Oil Essence is a sensational restorative treatment formulated with a 6 precious flower oils. This new perfect oil smooths each strand for silky shine and softness.” (OleoTherapy Perfecting Oil Essence)
How I use it?:
After washing and deep conditioning my hair, I spray my leave-in conditioners (liquid & cream) through my tresses and then apply around 4 pumps of the Oleo Therapy oil. This helps me partition my hair into its four sections before I begin to gently detangle with a wide tooth comb.
Have you tried either of these products? If so, what were your thoughts? If not, could you see yourself using them? Let’s chat!
*Note: This product is not a staple in my regimen.
