How to: Pack a sun hat in a carry-on luggage with 6 easy steps!

July 16, 2015

Here are 6 easy steps I used to pack my sun hat when I was traveling to Miami this 4th of July weekend. I hope you find it helpful and be sure to let me know what you think! =)

Step 1: Start with an empty suitcase.

Step 2: Take your hat and stuff the inside of the crown with small-sized articles of clothing. I used a few bathing-suits but clean underwear and socks could work as well! Make sure they’re clean!! 😉

Step 3: Place the hat flat on bottom of your luggage–ensuring that there’s enough stuffing so the crown of the hat doesn’t wrinkle or form dimples.

Step 4: Start folding and placing the other contents of your suitcase around hat.

Step 5: Be sure to pack around the crown, saving the heaviest items for last—placing them around the edges of the luggage and away from the center.

Step 6: Continue packing until full. Tip: I’d try to leave my light shirts and/or extra underwear/swimwear for the top to prevent  causing too much weight on the top of your hat.

When I arrived in Miami I was happy to find my hat unwrinkled and in mint condition. Although I didn’t wear it much while there, I’m still happy it kept its shape. There’s always my next next vacation!

I hope you enjoyed & thanks for stopping by!

Happy Hair Journey!

    1. Hi Jody,

This is a softcase luggage right? Just be careful, because your sunhat could be sqeeuzed and deform. It’s better to use a hard case carry-on luggage instead. At http://www.carryonluggage.info there are some more sturdy carry-on luggage to choose from.
